Alan Taylor Is Directing ‘The Sopranos’ Prequel Movie

Filmmaker Alan Taylor is set to direct The Sopranos prequel movie for New Line Cinema. Taylor, who was the man behind the camera for nine episodes of the original HBO series, which came to a halt in 2007, will direct The Many Saints Of Newark for the studio.

Series creator David Chase and Lawrence Konner have written the script for the movie.

The film takes place in the 1960s, when riots swept through Newark, New Jersey and conflicts between African-American and Italian residents were at their worst. Several characters from the “Sopranos” are expected to appear in the film, though New Line would not disclose further plot details.

The Sopranos is one of the most acclaimed TV series of all time with 21 Emmys from 111 nominations.

As wells a directing episodes of The Sopranos, Taylor has also helmed various Game Of Thrones episodes, as well as Thor: The Dark World and, more recently, Terminator Genisys.
