‘Terminal’ Filmmaker Vaughn Stein On His Feature Directing Debut

Ahead of the release of the Margot Robbie-produced and starring Terminal this weekend, I caught up with its writer and director Vaughn Stein to chat all about it.

In the dark heart of a sprawling and anonymous city, two assassins carry out a sinister mission, a teacher battles a fatal illness, an enigmatic janitor and a curious waitress lead a dangerous double life. Murderous consequences unravel in the dead of night as their lives all intertwine at the hands of a mysterious criminal mastermind who is hell-bent on revenge.

Whilst promoting the hard-boiled crime film at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival, Stein sat down with The Hollywood News to talk about his directorial debut; we chat about film noir, Terminal‘s influences being Blade Runner and Sin City, working with Margot Robbie and so much more.

For as long as I can remember, I have had a real passion for movies and for writing. I'm a superhero fanboy at heart; 'The Dark Knight' and 'Days of Future Past' are a couple of my favourites. I'm a big sci-fi fan too - 'Star Wars' has been my inspiration from the start; 'Super 8' is another personal favourite, close to my heart... I love movies. All kinds of movies. Lots of them too.
