Robert De Niro May Join Joaquin Phoenix In ‘Joker’

Film legend Robert De Niro is reportedly in talks to join Joaquin Phoenix in the stand-alone ‘Joker’ movie now in development over at Warner Brothers. Variety reports that De Niro could join the project as a TV talk show host in a film that is reportedly being compared to his 1980s movie The King Of Comedy.

The movie, an original tale, will be about a failing comedian who kidnaps a popular talk-show host to gain fame. It is being co-written and directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover series) and is set to shoot in New York City this coming September.

Phoenix will play the title character in the movie, which is a completely different project and nothing to do with Jared Leto’s Joker. A stand-alone is also planned for that offshoot from Suicide Squad but no details have yet been released.

Joker will be released in October 2019. More as it comes in.
