The first batch of films set to play at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival has been announced, and it looks GOOD! We’re still very much trying to take all of it in, but this year’s line-up features dozens of world premieres of movies from all around the world, including some surprises. Check out the full list of 2018 TIFF movies below.
2018 TIFF movies announced
On first look, titles that stand-out include the world premiere of Steve McQueen’s Widows, which has already been confirmed to open the London Film Festival in October, Timothee Chalamet-driven Beautiful Boy, Claire Denis’ English-language debut High Life with Robert Pattinson, Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, and Damien Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic First Man.
There’s also Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut A Star Is Born, and Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma also on the impressive line-up sheet. Dan Fogelman’s Life Itself also debuts in Toronto.

Other titles to catch my eye is the Emilio Estevez-directed The Public, a film in which he also stars opposite Alec Baldwin, and also Trevor Nunn’s Red Joan with Judi Dench.
Also worthy of note: Jason Reitman’s The Front Runner, Mia Hansen-Løve’s Maya, and David Lowery’s The Old Man & the Gun.
We’re in for quite the festival. There are still more movies to be announced, including those for the popular Midnight Madness strand. Will we see David Gordon Green’s Halloween take a bow?
