‘Step Brothers’ Sequel Unlikely, Says John C. Reilly

John C. Reilly has a couple of big movies due out in the next couple of months. He will next be seen to widespread audiences opposite Will Ferrell in the period comedy mystery Holmes and Watson, before portraying Oliver Hardy in the biopic of one of the greatest comedy duos of all time in Stan and Ollie, but one film we probably won’t be seeing him in is a sequel to one of his most popular comedies, Step Brothers.

Speaking to IndieWire, despite talks of a follow-up to the 2008 movie, it’ll probably never happen:

“We’ve been talking about it pretty much since the first one came out. For most artists, sequels aren’t the most attractive thing. Fans, of course, are different. If you like pizza, you want more pizza. I understand people really getting into the idea, but in terms of having something on the table, no, there isn’t… It’s so funny, it’s so broad, but at the core of it are these very real family issues, and I think that makes the movie really subversive in a way. It has staying power. You know, we really meant it when we made that movie.”

Sad news indeed.

Holmes and Watson which WILL reunite Reilly with Will Ferrell will debut in the UK on Boxing Day, December 26th.
