Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress & Best Director
Sticking with First Man, the film portrays the first moon landings in 1969 and is a front runner across a number of categories, including Best Picture.
“The picture is about as can’t-miss as a Hollywood studio has come up with recently, according to Forbes.
Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born is also being widely tipped for success at the Oscars. It’s the fourth remake of the classic and although film fans often question the need to keep re-making hits from yesteryear, Cooper has pulled it off magnificently.
Roma is another front runner alongside Green Book for the Best Picture category, both sit favourably in the current Oscars market after generating strong feedback from audiences and critics alike.
In the Best Actor category, Cooper is currently odds on for his role in A Star is Born which will make it his fourth Oscar nomination in six years.
Lady Gaga is tipped for the Best Actress for her role in A Star is Born. The singer turned actress has generated a plethora of strong feedback but will need to be wary of Glenn Close. The Wife star has seen her price drop dramatically in recent weeks.
Once again, Cooper ranks highly in the Best Director category alongside Alfonso Cuaron, who directed Roma. The pair have the shortest prices currently but it would be foolish to rule out Damien Chazelle, who directed First Man.
Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Animated Feature & Best Documentary Feature
Timothee Chalamete and Sam Elliot are the leading contenders in the Best Supporting Actor category. Although, it’s worth keeping an eye on Mahershala Ali, who was brilliant in his role as Don Shirley in Green Book.
Amy Adams and Regina King lead the way for the female category, with Rachel Weisz and Emma Stone also in contention for their roles in The Favourite. Although, Cynthia Erivo could be a surprise winner for her role Widows.
The Best Animated Feature frontrunners pit Isle of Dogs and The Incredibles 2 up against each other, with the latter the long-awaited sequel from the 2004 original.
National Geographic’s Free Solo is expected to win the Best Documentary Feature category, but will face competition from Crime + Punishment and PBS’s Dark Money.
