New Trailer & Poster For Cannes Fave ‘Happy As Lazzaro’

Ahead of its debut in cinemas next month, Modern Films has landed the new trailer and poster for Happy As Lazzaro, the festival fave which first debuted at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

This was one of those films that I did not expect to light, but when I caught it at last year’s Cannes, I absolutely fell in love with it. You can read my review here, and find out more about the modern Italian fable below.

Modern Films

The cast includes newcomers Adriano Tardiolo and Luca Chikovani alongside Agnese Graziani (The Wonders) and Alba Rohrwacher (Hungry Hearts, I Am Love).

The film is a tale of a meeting between Lazzaro (Adriano Tardiolo), a young peasant so good that he is often mistaken for simple-minded, and Tancredi (Luca Chikovani), a young nobleman cursed by his imagination. Life in their isolated pastoral village Inviolata is dominated by the terrible Marchesa Alfonsina de Luna, the queen of cigarettes. A loyal bond is sealed when Tancredi asks Lazzaro to help him orchestrate his own kidnapping. This strange and improbable alliance is a revelation for Lazzaro. A friendship so precious that it will travel in time and transport Lazzaro in search of Tancredi. His first time in the big city, Lazzaro is like a fragment of the past lost in the modern world.

Happy As Lazzaro hits cinemas on 5th April. Check out the new poster above and the new trailer below.
