Screen veteran Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Jason Bourne) has reportedly joined the cast of Westworld. The French actor will join the third season in a key role, so reports The Live Feed. The next season, broadcast on HBO and Sky Atlantic is set to come to TV screens in 2020.

If you’re unfamiliar with the story, here’s a little reminder:

Based on the film written by best-selling author Michael Crichton, Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and evolution of sin. Set at the intersection of the near future and a re-imagined past, the series explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged. Westworld offers its guests an unparalleled, immersive universe where they have the freedom to become who they’ve always wanted to be – or who they never knew they were. There’s no rules, no laws, no judgement, it’s a life without limits.

Cassel has a number of projects incoming. There’s the film Underwater, which also stars Kristen Stewart and T.J. Miller, and also The Specials, which is described as a story of two men, educators of children and adolescents with autism. The actor was last seen as Jean-Paul in The Great Mystical Circus which was screened at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Cassel exploded onto the world cinema stage with the outstanding La Haine all of the way back in 1995. He’s a reminder of that greatness.
