Music Video: Taron Egerton Sings Elton John’s‘Rocketman’

I really can’t wait to see what Dexter Fletcher and co. have done with the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman. The film will have its world premiere at this month’s Cannes Film Festival in Cannes with both Elton and the film’s star Taron Egerton in attendance. Ahead of that huge event, here’s the very first music video from the film’s soundtrack; Egerton singing the classic title track from the movie.

Based on a true fantasy, ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story – set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton – tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.

The YouTube channel that the video was released on has Rocketman as the only entry, but we’re hoping that the playlist will be added to as we approach release.

It has also been announced that Elton and Taron will duet on a new song specifically written for the movie. “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again,” is reportedly set to play over the film’s end credits, according to the Variety report.

Watch the video below. Rocketman debuts in cinemas on 24th May.
