The very first trailer for the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog movie arrived earlier this week and with it came outrage over the look of the title character. Fans have spoken out against the design of Sonic – personally I don;t have a huge problem with it. Maybe those legs are a bit too long, though. Anyway, the film’s director has responded on Twitter and has said that they are apparently looking to fix things.
Speaking on the social network, filmmaker Jeff Fowler said: “Thank you for the support. And the criticism.”
“You aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast”
Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast ???

Huge respect to the man. As I said above – I didn’t have a huge problem with it, but there are many out there who do. This is going to be some task for all involved, but you have to admire the commitment to the fans. Can I just say, they absolutely nailed Robotnik! Check out Jim Carrey!
The film isn’t due in cinemas until November – it will hit multiple territories on the 7th of that month with the UK getting the film much later on December 26th.
Official synopsis: Sonic The Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
