First Trailer For Cannes Competition Film ‘Bacurau’

YouTube

The first trailer for the film with some of the biggest buzz playing in-competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival has just landed online. Bacurau, which hails from Brazil, is directed by Juliano Dornelles, and Kleber Mendonça Filho, and arrives following Filho’s 2016 entry Aquarius. Screen International debuted the trailer late Friday along with an official synopsis:

Director Mendonca Filho returns to Cannes with his second Competition entry, following 2016’s Aquarius — this time co-writing and co-directing with regular production designer Dornelles. Described as a mixture of western, adventure and sci-fi, Bacurau is set in a small town in the Brazilian backlands that disappears from the map after the death of a woman at the age of 94. Sonia Braga, Udo Kier and Karine Teles lead the cast.
