Sometimes all you want to do is get your nerves tickled. Sometimes, the only way to go about getting your nerves tickled is getting a glass of wine or a can of beer and sitting in front of a screen, with a nice thriller or suspense film to enjoy. If that is something that you want to do, but you are not sure what kind of film you want and what kind of mood you really are in, here are the top three thrillers from three different ends of the film genres to get you going. The films that we picked are from very different areas. One is a dark detective thriller with a lot to offer, tons of amazing directing and cinematography, and a story to blow your mind. The other is a true story that you will cringe while watching but enjoy every minute of it as the performances are outstanding. Finally, the remaining one is of a lighthearted offering with a fun true story and an interesting, gripping action ending. All three are worth a watch in their own right,
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a truly marvelous film. The year it came out it became a sensation, with everyone who has ever been interested in film, or has heard of the book or of the previous adaptations flocked to the cinema screens to see this masterpiece. It is stacked with some amazing performances from Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. The director of the film is David Fincher, so you know for a fact that this is going to be one amazing piece of visual cinema that is bound to impress you with its moodiness, the way it tells the story and the imagery it presents you with. The film does not shy away from telling the gripping and the gritty story as it truly is, presenting some pretty messed up imagery to the eye and allowing the viewer to enjoy the true thrills of a crime and detective suspense thriller. There are earlier adaptations of the film, of course, but this one is probably the best made one and deserves a whole lot of attention and praise because of how well executed it is.
21
This one is more of a popcorn flick than either one of the others on the list, but it does not mean that the film does not deserve your attention. The film is pretty stacked with some amazing actors, with Jim Sturgess and Laurence Fishburne presenting some pretty fun characters on the screen. 21 takes us on a true story journey through the life of a single MIT student who decide to start earning money by counting cards at blackjack tables in casinos. It is like a wish come true, a story of vengeance for anyone who has ever played casino games online of any type, showing what victory looks and feels like. Although nothing that involves math and blackjack ends well, which is why the story has pretty fun turns that end up in exciting thrills for the viewer.
Recommended if you want to be both elated and scared when you see what humans are capable of for money, while also enjoying some popcorn while you are at it.
Nightcrawler
Rarely is there a time when a film as important as Nightcrawler comes around. This film is everything that the suspense thriller genre has to present to the audiences. It gives them the chance to see the true horrors of human ambitions and presents them with the kind of body horror that drives people to have nightmares. It keeps you on your feet not because you are waiting for the next twist, but because you know what the twist is and how terrifyingly it reflects on humans. Jake Gyllenhaal presents the main character as the terrifying psychopath he is, bringing a level of performance to the entire film that is rarely seen on the screen without amazing actors. The film follows a man on a quest to build a media company catering to news, in hopes of becoming the most demanded and the most successful camera operation and footage providers in the area. This is the story of the man who did not shy away from changing what crime scenes looked like, who filmed fatally wounded people on their deathbeds right before they were taken into the ambulance. This is the story of a man who only cared about himself, and in the end, it is the most terrifying, but beautiful, but beautiful story.
