After nearly stealing the show in the last movie, Charlize Theron is reportedly returning for Fast & Furious 9. The new came from producer and star Vin Diesel in an Instagram post on Tuesday. Also returning for another ride is Helen Mirren, who will join the likes of Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel and John Cena.
Shooting is now underway on the sequel which will follow this summer’s first F&F spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, which is led by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. That movie is already in the can and set for an August bow.
Theron will reprise her role as he villainous Cipher in movie number 9 in one of Universal’s flagship movie series, while Mirren returns as Magdalene Shaw, mother to Luke Evans’ Owen Shaw an Statham’s Deckard Shaw.
Directing the ‘9’ is series regular Justin Lin. Daniel Casey and Chris Morgan wrote the screenplay. Shooting is currently taking place in and around London, but will also take in California and Thailand, according to reports.
