The world premiere of Disney’s live action version of The Lion King took place in Los Angeles last night. The film was treated to a glittering premiere with the cast hitting the red carpet for the first look at the film. The Lion King first reactions are now in and the word is GOOD!
Arriving on the red carpet last night were the film’s stars, including Beyoncé with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. The singer/actor, who plays the role of Nala in the film, was pictured arriving on the carpet, along with fellow cast members Donald Glover, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen and more.
Here’s the official synopsis for the movie: Disney’s “The Lion King, directed by Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book”), journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
Just yesterday, Beyoncé also dropped her song from the movie, titled Spirit, which can be heard here.
Word on the movie, which is directed by Jon Favreau, who also brought the live action version of The Jungle Book to screens a few years ago, is very good, pretty much across the board/ The first reactions to the film hit the web very early this morning.
Here are some more of the reactions to the movie on Twitter.
The Lion King… was more than anything i ever could’ve wanted. It was BEAUTIFULLY animated, paid the highest of honors to the original, and was packed with modern humor.
Seriously. See #TheLionKing. Please. It’s a piece of art.

Been lucky to have attended a number of world premieres but not sure I’ve ever heard as much clapping during a movie as I did tonight at #TheLionKing . Was like being at a rock concert. Movie is going to make so much money. pic.twitter.com/rnU4qf92mt

The Lion King is a wonderful adaptation of an iconic classic. It has a few small changes which enhance what was already great and everything else is right on point. The CG can be slightly distracting at times but the emotion quickly covers that. Loved it. pic.twitter.com/9QmsP3PmNh

The Lion King is a dazzler. Gorgeous score, spot-on voice acting, but mostly, yeah, those visuals. ? #TheLionKing

So #TheLionKing was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and this reimagining hit all the same notes. LOVED IT. Idk if it was Beyonce, Donald, the animation, Jon Fav… no it was probably Beyonce.
