To celebrate the release of Framing John DeLorean, we take a drive through the decades looking at some of the most iconic cars!

1910s
The Ford Model T was sold by the Ford Motor Company from 1908 to 1927. It was the first affordable car made for the middle-class American and became so popular that at one point it was believed that most Americans owned one. To start the car, you would have to use the crank at the front of the vehicle – cranking with your left arm lowered the risk of your arm being broken!
1920s
Introduced as the New Phantom in 1925 the Rolls-Royce Phantom I was built in both the UK and USA. The Phantom 1 replaced what was known as the Silver Ghost.
1930s
The Duesenberg Model J was a luxury car produced by Duesenberg a year before the stock market crash that led to the Great Depression. It was bought by mainly rich and famous individuals e.g. Al Capone, Clark Gable and Greta Garbo.
1940s
When it was released in 1949, the Jaguar XK120 was considered to be on the of the fastest production cars in the world – with a top speed of 130mph. Manufactured between 1948 and 1954 it was Jaguar’s first sports car since SS 100.
1950s
The Citroën DS was manufactured by the French company Citroën and was famous for its futuristic, aerodynamic body design. It came third in the Car of the Century competition in 1999 and was named DS as it sounds like the French word for Goddess (Déesse).
1960s
The Mini Cooper S is considered an icon of 19060s British pop culture. Produced by the British Motor Corporation it is arguably one of the most popular cars ever produced with a total of about 5,000,000 built between 1960 and 2000.
1970s
The Lamborghini Countach was a trail-blazing forerunner in the sports car industry. Not only was it one of the first production vehicles with vertically opening scissor doors, this Italian sports car designed by Marcello Gandini is considered to have shaped the design of countless super cars.
1980s
The DMC DeLorean became iconic for its starring role as the time machine in the Back To The Future franchise. It stood out for its gullwing doors and brushed stainless steel exterior (which needed to be cleaned with gasoline!) Unfortunately, the power and performance of the car did not quite match up to the price tag which at the time was between $25,000 and $34,000.
1990s
The Mazda MX-5 was manufactured from 1989-1997 and according to the Guinness World Records it is the bestselling convertible sports car in the world selling over 400,000 units between those years.
2000s
Designed and developed in Germany by the VW Group, the Bugatti Veryon was named Car of the Decade by BBC’s Top Gear. It is considered to be one of the fastest, most powerful and most deluxe and motor cars available.
2010s
Tesla Model S was introduced in 2012 by Tesla, Inc. It is an all-electric five-door car which ranked worldwide as the bestselling electric car in 2015 and 2016 and also the first-ever electric car to receive the Motor Trend’s Car Of The Year award. It’s super safe and super slick so no wonder it is one of the most iconic cars of the 2010s.
