The official trailer for Monos, one of the most popular films on the festival circuit this year, has just dropped online. The film is directed by Alejandro Landes, written by Landes and Alexis Dos Santos and produced by Fernando Epstein, Santiago Zapata, Cristina Landes and Landes. I still haven’t managed to see the film, but can’t wait to do so. This looks superb. The film has a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The official synopsis is as follows: On a remote mountain in Latin America, a young group of rebel soldiers — an unconventional family bound together under a shadowy force known only as the Organization — keeps watch over an American hostage (Julianne Nicholson). The teenage commandos perform military training exercises by day and indulge a hedonistic lifestyle by night. After an ambush drives the squadron into the jungle, both the mission and the intricate bonds between the group begin to disintegrate, as order descends into chaos and the strong prey on the weak. The third feature from Colombian-Ecuadorian director Alejandro Landes, Monos is a breathtaking survivalist saga – [via TIFF].
Monos will release in cinemas on 25th October. Watch the trailer below.
