We’ve just received the full home release details for one of the year’s big scare-fests, Ari Aster’s Midsommar. It looks like the film is eyeing a late October release, just in time for Halloween.
If you’re unfamiliar with the film, here’s a recap of the plot.
Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster director of HEREDITARY comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.

We hear that the Blu-ray will be a 2 Disc affair with the theatrical cut and Ari Aster’s Directors Cut, along with the “Let the festivities begin” featurette. The DVD will just have the “Let the festivities begin” featurette included.
The date for your diaries is 25th October. More as it comes in.
