‘The Equalizer’ To Return To Television With Queen Latifah

YouTube

1980s television classic The Equalizer is returning to the small screen with Queen Latifah in the lead. Andrew Marlowe and Terri Miller (Take Two) are the series creators and showrunners on the planned reboot, with Latifah also on board as executive producer.

Latifah will play a vigilante-type character who takes on cases from victims of crime who have no other place to turn. The role, Robert McCall in the previous series and more recent movie versions, was played by Edward Woodward and Denzel Washington respectively.

The original television series ran for four seasons in the mid-1980s and was successfully rebooted for two movies over the past couple of years. The Equalizer and The Equalizer 2 were both directed by Antoine Fuqua and together have made over $380 million around the world. The second instalment was released just last year.

The television series is a completely separate project from the movies, however.
