Zac Efron Is Set To Star In John McAfee Comedy Biopic

Zac Efron is reportedly set to star in a new biopic based around the life of the Internet virus pioneer John McAfee. The film will be directed by the duo Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (who brought us the likes of Crazy, Stupid, Love and Focus) and scripted by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Dolemite Is My Name).

The movie, according to Deadline, is set to be titled King Of The Jungle and is being set-up with comedic tones and will revolve around the time McAfee moved to the Belize jungle to a ‘Colonel Kurtz-like compound of guns, sex and madness.’

The film is described as a comedy by the trade.

Efron will reportedly play the role of Wired journalist Ari Furman, who ventures to Belize to interview McAfee. That role has previously had the likes of Michael Keaton and Seth Rogen attached, but it looks the Efron has secured the part.

Efron was last seen as Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile and in the box-office juggernaut The Greatest Showman.

Casting is now underway to find someone to play McAfee for King Of The Jungle. We’ll keep you updated.
