February is set to be an exciting month for film fans over on Netflix. The streamer has just announced no less than seven Studio Ghibli films set to debut on the 1st February with a further seven due in March and a final seven for April. If that wasn’t enough, there’s tons of great content set for Netflix during the short month of February and here are six of the best new additions.
Locke & Key (season one)
Probably the most high-profile release for February comes to Netflix on the 7th. This debut season comes to the screen from co-developer Carlton Cuse, the man behind the likes of Lost, Bates Motel and the more recent first season of Amazon’s Jack Ryan. Locke & Key is adapted from the comic of the same name written by Joe Hill, and illustrated by Gabriel Rodríguez. The story follows three siblings who are moved homes after a brutal murder of their father. They move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. This looks epic.
To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You
We shift genres for our next offering, a teen romantic comedy adapted from a book P.S. I Still Love You from Jenny Han. This is a follow-up to the very successful To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (released in 2018) and focusses on Lara Jean and Peter who are continuing their relationship. However, things become a little more complicated when the recipient of one of Lara Jean’s letters re-enters her life. To All The Boys: P.S. I Still Love You will arrive on the streaming service on 12th February.
Narcos: Mexico (season two)

The second series of the spin-off series from the hugely successful Narcos series comes to Netflix just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend on 13th February. This new series of Narcos: Mexico continues to follow the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s as Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) takes the helm, unifying traffickers in order to build an empire. The Narcos series goes from strength to strength and from what we’ve seen so far, the series continues to shine in this raw, extremely violent new series that also sees Michael Peña return as DEA agent Kiki Camarena.
Better Call Saul (season five)
We’ve just heard that Better Call Saul has been renewed for one more series ( a sixth) which will also be it’s final. Airing on AMC in North America, but showing on Netflix in most other territories, Better Call Saul is as popular as the series in which it was spun-off from. With the release of last year’s stand-alone Breaking Bad follow-up El Camino, the expectation on the new run is at a massive high. Don’t expect to see Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) running bingo games at his local retirement home or spending his days gambling on an online casino – this is where we will really start to see his transformation into the slimy Albuquerque lawyer Saul Goodman, as seen in the great Breaking Bad. Not much is known about the new series, but we’ll keep you posted. 24th February is the date for your diaries with new episodes arriving weekly.
All The Bright Places
Here’s one I hadn’t heard of until researching this article, but All The Right Places does look rather interesting indeed. The film is brought to the streamer by Brett Haley (Hearts Beat Loud, The Hero) and features a cast that includes Elle Fanning, Virginia Gardner, Keegan-Michael Key, Luke Wilson, Alexandra Shipp, and Justice Smith. The story, another romantic story, revolves around two twenty-somethings Violet Markey (Elle Fanning) and Theodore Finch (Justice Smith) who come together and change one another’s lives forever. It is based on the novel of the same name written by Jennifer Niven who also wrote the screenplay with Liz Hannah. All The Bright Places will arrive on Netflix on 28th February.
Queen Sono (season one)
Queen Sono is the final film on our list and is the very first original series from the African continent. Pearl Thusi leads the cast as the title character, a secret agent embroiled in the criminal underworld who is also dealing with drama in her personal life. The series will run to six episodes on its first season run which kicks off on Netflix on 28th February.
