Television has played a major role in making us who we are today. The shows that we watched in our childhoods still reflect in our personalities. There was a time when you simply could not live without some of the shows you liked. You spent day after day in front of the television screens memorizing your favorite shows.
Despite your intense dedication to some of those shows at the time, it is highly unlikely that you remember the shows with perfect clarity. Maybe you remember a certain character or a catchphrase, but oh the frustration when you cannot remember the name of the show or the name of the character.
We did some digging and have brought back some of these shows that you may have loved and adored at one time, but have forgotten by now. Come along with us as we take you on a trip down the memory lane.
The Woody Woodpecker Show
The show that tops our list is the one about a woodpecker with an iconic laugh. The show focuses on a woodpecker named Woody and his memorable adventures with his friends. This show ran in the 50s and managed to make an everlasting mark in many people’s hearts.
The show was inspired by an incident during the producer’s honeymoon. He and his wife couldn’t sleep an entire night because an irritating woodpecker kept making annoying noises. Instead of shooting the bird, the man came up with the idea of Woody the Woodpecker, a character that some still remember today.
Adventures of the Gummi Bears
This unique show was about a group of humanoid bears with magical powers. These friendly bears are in the search for their lost heritage while struggling to preserve what’s left. Their existence is unknown to humans with the exception of two friends, Cavin and Princess Calla.
The Gummi Bears harvest the Gummiberries that are all over the forest to extract their juice known as Gummiberry Juice. This juice has the ability to give them magical powers that are craved by many. The Gummibears must strive to protect themselves and their heritage from humans and other evil forces trying to harm them.
The Gumby Show
Another great show on this list is The Gumby Show. Gumby is a clay humanoid character that goes on various adventures in all sorts of different places and times in history. He is accompanied by his trusty sidekick, Pokey the horse.
Gumby faces a lot of issues with the troublemakers in the show known as G Blockhead and J Blockhead. You also get to see a number of other characters in the show, including Gumbo and Gumba, Gumby’s parents, Prickle, a yellow dinosaur, with the passion of becoming a detective, and Goo, a flying mermaid who is also a shapeshifter. You can also not forget Gumby’s pet dog Nopey, who is only capable of saying the word “Nope.”
Animaniacs

Though the cast of the show includes a number of different characters appearing in different roles, the main stars of the show are Wakko, Yakko and Dot, the Warner siblings. The three of them actually live inside a water tower situated at Warner Bros studio in Burbank California.
In the show, the siblings go around interacting with different characters and famous personalities. The cast includes real and mythological famous people throughout time. Many of the famous characters in the show include Pinky and the Brain, two white mice with plans of world domination, the Goodfeathers, the pigeon mob and several other characters.
Heckle and Jeckle
This show is a story of two look-alike male best friends. Heckle and Jeckle are two witty trickster black magpies who spend their days pranking and outwitting people they come across. The duo may look identical, but have very distinguished personalities.
The best part about this show is that Heckle and Jeckle prank their foes instead of resorting to violence as a response. The show managed to spread the message that violence isn’t always the answer and you can always convey your message in an effective and not so offensive manner.
Mighty Mouse
This show was rather short-lived, but it still left an impact. Mighty Mouse is the story of a superhero mouse with amazing superpowers such as flight, super strength, X-ray vision, and a couple of others. The mouse is sarcastic and humorous and uses his powers to help those in need.
Atom Ant
This gem of a show was brought to us by Hanna-Barbera productions in 1965. The show is about a super-powered ant in the countryside whose base of operations is an anthill, of course. His phenomenal abilities include flight, super speed, super strength and a few others.
His tiny anthill is even equipped with powerful mainframe computers so that he can easily search for the bad guys he needs to take down. The police in the show are often shown to be highly reliant on this tiny, but powerful insect.
Hong Kong Phooey
This great show portrays the story of a clumsy dog named Penrod “Penry” Pooch. Penry works in a police station as a janitor. However, not a lot of people know that Penry also has a secret identity named Hong Kong Phooey.
Whenever trouble strikes, Penry dives into a cabinet to change into the costume and somehow always gets stuck on his way out. His cat friend, Spot always has his back and frees him everytime. Phooey goes around town fighting off bad guys and ultimately save the day.
