Universal Pictures teaming with James Wan for new ‘monster movie’

Universal Pictures is reportedly set to team with Saw director James Wan for a new monster movie. The studio and Wan’s Atomic Monster will get together to work on a film inspired by the studio’s monster-movie series.

The news comes from Heat Vision who reports that Wan will produce the film which is set to be written by Robbie Thompson (Supernatural) with the story focussing on a group of teens who discover that a neighbor is building a monster in his basement. Said monster obviously escapes.

Universal are enjoying huge success with the now-playing The Invisible Man from Leigh Whannel, who Wan worked with on the Saw movies, which has so far taken in a whopping $100 million from a relatively low budget (a reported $7 million).

Wan previously teamed with Universal on the seventh film in the Fast and Furious series and has a film named Malignant due for release later in the year.

More as it comes in.
