One of the best British films of the past number of years is Francis Lee’s superb God’s Own Country, a stunning feature that landed in cinemas back in 2017. This year, the filmmaker’s latest hits screens with Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan leading the cast. Ammonite is set in 1840s England and was due to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film festival, which was sadly cancelled due to the global pandemic. Instead, the movie will now play Telluride and TIFF before taking a bow in cinemas later in the year.
Gemma Jones, James McArdle, Alec Secareanu and Fiona Shaw are also amongst the cast.
Here’s the plotline before we share the trailer:
1840s England, acclaimed but overlooked fossil hunter Mary Anning and a young woman sent to convalesce by the sea develop an intense relationship, altering both of their lives forever.
Ammonite will debut in US cinemas on 13th November 2020 with a UK release TBC. Here’s the new trailer and poster for the highly anticipated film. Can’t wait to see it.
