Trailer: Upcoming ‘The Man In The Hat’ starring Ciarán Hinds, Stephen Dillane

Nothing is harder to find than lost love…

Here’s a look at an upcoming new film set for release in select cinemas later this month. The Man In The Hat stars Ciarán Hinds, Stephen Dillane and Maïwenn and will land in mid-September through Kaleidoscope Entertainment.

The Man In The Hat is directed by Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare In Love) and John-Paul Davidson, and stars Ciarán Hinds as an Englishman driving across France, but he doesn’t speak any French so the film is musically-rooted and largely non-verbal.

Here’s the official synopsis:

We follow The Man in the Hat (Ciarán Hinds, First Man, The Woman in Black) as he journeys through France in a Fiat 500, accompanied by a framed photograph of an unknown woman. He is pursued by five angry men in a Citroën Dyane. Why are they chasing him? And how can he shake them off?

Travelling North on his escape across the mountains, gorges and bridges of France, he hears stories of love and loss, Otis Redding and Canteloube, and encounters mysterious strangers including The Damp Man (Stephen Dillane, Game of Thrones, Darkest Hour), The Chef (Muna Otaru, TV’s Broken, The Keeping Room) and The Biker (Maïwenn, Polisse, Pardonnez-moi); coming face to face with the vivid eccentricities of an old country on an old continent, whilst trying to evade the pursuers who are always, relentlessly, on his tail.

I’m looking forward to this one. The film will hit cinemas in the UK from 18th September, with the main event being at Ciné Lumière in Kensington and a Q&A on the 21st hosted by Francine Stock. It will then be available on Digital platforms from 19th October.

Here’s a look at the trailer.
