New trailer for mind-bending sci-fi ‘Synchronic’

The film enjoyed a successful festival run late last year.

Here’s a trailer for a film that I managed to catch a little while back – this time last year, actually – the Anthony Mackie and Jamie Dornan-led sci-fi, Synchronic. I described it at the time as Limitless meets Back To The Future via Quantum Leap and Bringing Out The Deada film with a mesh of many ideas. It’s great. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (The Endless) are the two geniuses behind the camera, while Katie Aselton and Ally Ioannides are also amongst the cast.

Synopsis: When New Orleans paramedics and longtime best friends Steve (Anthony Mackie) and Dennis (Jamie Dornan) are called to a series of bizarre, gruesome accidents, they chalk it up to the mysterious new party drug found at the scene. But after Dennis’s oldest daughter suddenly disappears, Steve stumbles upon a terrifying truth about the supposed psychedelic that will challenge everything he knows about reality—and the flow of time itself.#

Synchronic is difficult to put into a genre – and that’s the beauty of it. As I said in my review, there’s horror, with tons of bloody gore, and later on, we’re well into the realms of pure science fiction and time-travel. Elements that I dig in this kind of movie.

We have the trailer (I believe this is the latest US promo) and the poster for the movie, both of which you can view below. Synchronic opens in cinemas and drive-ins Stateside on 23rd October. Other territories will follow.
