Get to know the starring roles of Vikings Season 6 Vol. 1

Ahead of the home entertainment release of Vikings Season 6, Volume 1, on DVD & Blu-ray™ we wanted to give you a quick refresher on all the great, and brutal, characters of the much loved series. Vikings: Season 6 Vol.1 is available on October 19^th.

Ivar

Ivar Ragnarsson, is the youngest son of Ragnar Lothbrok and Aslaug. Ivar is a tough character, easily angered and increasingly arrogant, selfish and cruel. He is also known as “Ivar the Boneless”, due to him being born with weak bones and twisted legs. In the latter seasons of Vikings, he is crowned the King of Kattegat after a brutal battle with Lagetha for killing his mother. However, he is later overthrown by his half-brothers Hvitserk and Bjorn, as well as his former allies King Harald and King Olaf, Ivar is driven into exile.

Bjorn

Björn Ragnarsson is Ivar’s brother, although it is later revealed his uncle Rollo may be his biological father, making Bjor and Ivar only half-brothers. Raised with the typical Northman conduct, he has strong family values and yearned to become a warrior like his parents. After fighting in battle without receiving one wound or scratch, he garnered the famous nickname “Bjorn Ironside.” He is now the current King of Kattegat after he overthrew Ivar.

Floki

Floki Vilgerðarson was Ragnar Lothbrok’s closest friend, a boat builder and swindler by trade. Floki is an eccentric man, always entertaining friends and is most well-known for secretly designing and building a new generation of Viking longboats to help Ragnar sail west. He is also the spouse of the late Helga, the father of the late Angrboda and adoptive father of the late Tanaruz.

Lagertha

Former Queen of Kattegat, Lagertha was the first and ex-wife of Ragnar Lothrbok. Like him, she has a great sense of adventure and is fiercely ambitious in her desire to rule. She is an Earl and shield-maiden, fighting in the shield-wall alongside men. Lagertha was later overthrown by the youngest son of Ragnar (Ivar).

Ubbe

Ubbe Ragnarsson is the first son of Ragnar Lothbrok and second wife Aslaug. Ubbe was conceived out of wedlock, however he was not considered a bastard due to Ragnar’s marriage to Aslaug and divorce of Lagertha. He is unquestionably loyal to his father and is the most sensitive and compassionate of Ragnar’s sons. This made him became Ragnar’s legitmate son and heir, also closely resembling Ragnar. He was married to Margrethe, but he is now married to Torvi, who was previously his older brother, Bjorn’s wife.

Harald

An ambitious Scandinavian warlord and king, Harald “Finehair”, was a threat for Ragnar before his death with his all-time dream to become king of all Norway. Harald is very outspoken and charismatic, becoming popular along the people of Kattegat. He was once married to Astrid, before she forced Lagertha to kill her in battle. He is set for big character developments in series 6 of Vikings.

Torvi

Torvi is a Shield-maiden and is known for having many husbands, this may be down to her caring nature and beauty. Her first husband was Jarl Borg, before he was killed by Ragnar. Following his death, she then marries the abusive Erlendur but later kills Erlendur, leaving for Kattegat with her third husband, Bjorn Ironside. Torvi and Bjorn have two children together, one son, Hali and one daughter Asa. Bjorn and Torvi then end their marriage, and Torvi marries Ubbe (Bjorn’s half-brother). She also later becomes Christian per King Alfred’s request to forge an alliance with the kingdom of Wessex. Torvi is very observant and is great at spotting potential attacks.
