New trailer for breakout lockdown horror film ‘Host’ which is getting a cinema and release in December

Here’s a brand new trailer and poster for the breakout horror movie Host, the Shudder original which is being release digitally and in cinemas from 4th December. We reviewed the film back in July when it was originally released on Shudder, calling it ‘a wonderfully surprising venture that may make you reassess your own lockdown achievements. Host is an exceptional example of the spirit of film-making. Global pandemic? That’s not going to stop the film industry, not when there are realised ideas as innovative and as well made at this one.’ More on our thoughts here.

Here’s the synopsis.

Six friends get together during lockdown for their weekly zoom call. It’s Haley’s turn to organise an activity and instead of a quiz, she’s arranged for a medium to conduct a séance. Bored and feeling mischievous, Jemma decides to have some fun and invents a story about a boy in her school who hanged himself. However, her prank gives license for a demonic presence to cross over, taking on the guise of the boy in Jemma’s made-up story. The friends begin noticing strange occurrences in their homes as the evil presence begins to make itself known, and they soon realise that they might not survive the night. A SHUDDER ORIGINAL.

Host will get special Halloween screenings with an exclusive cast and crew Q&A will be taking place on 31st October through Vertigo Releasing. Here’s the new trailer.
