Interview: Actors Charley Palmer Rothwell and Thomas Turgoose on ‘Looted’

The film hits digital on Friday.

Looted

In 2015, Charley Palmer Rothwell and Thomas Turgoose appeared in a short called Jacked. Five years later, they’re back in much the same roles, but this time in a feature length version of the same story. This time it’s called Looted and it’s on digital as of this Friday.

A crime drama, but with an emotional side, it follows Rob (Palmer Rothwell), who leads a double life. The full time carer for his terminally ill father, Oswald (Tom Fisher), he also works alongside best friend Leo (Turgoose) stealing cars, often to order. Rob’s relationship with his father has never been easy – the Nana tattoo on his neck is a constant reminder – but he’s always there for his dad, even to the point of protecting him from things he really needs to know. The crunch comes when, reluctantly, he agrees to a bigger job than usual, one that pays handsomely but puts everything in his life on the line.

The two actors, who have stayed friends since that first film, got together for this exclusive interview to talk about why they jumped at the chance to work together, and with director Rene Pannevais, again. Palmer Rothwell also explains how his on-screen relationship with his father was inspired by his grandmother – who, he admits, probably wouldn’t agree! And, thinking about their friendship, Turgoose speculates why he’s never got into hit comedy series Friends, despite being a fan of a certain Jennifer Aniston.

Looted is released on digital on Friday, 6 November.
