A UK and Ireland release date for the Riz Ahmed-led film Sound Of Metal, which rocketed onto must-see lists following festival screenings earlier this year, has been announced. The film, directed by Darius Marder starring Ahmed (The Night Of, Star Wars: Rogue One, The Sisters Brothers) and Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One, Thoroughbreds, Me, Earl and the Dying Girl), produced by Bert Hamelinck and Sacha Ben Harroche from Caviar (The Rider), will land on screens on 21st January 2021. The film has a release date on 4th December in the US on Amazon Prime Video.
Ruben (Riz Ahmed) and Lou (Olivia Cooke) live together, traveling gig to gig playing their loud, frenzied music. Suddenly Ruben, a passionate drummer, loses his hearing and his world is upended, causing him to struggle with depression and be tempted by past addictions.
