Sequel to ‘The Exorcist’ reportedly in the works at Blumhouse; David Gordon Green to direct

Love the sound of a new sequel from David Gordon Green.

It looks like there is going to be a new ‘Exorcist’ movie on the way. The film is being developed by Blumhouse and David Gordon Green is reportedly set to direct. The news comes to us from Observer with the project billed as being a sequel. Green has made both the 2018 Halloween movie and its upcoming sequels with Blumhouse and it looks like they may re-team for this one.

The Exorcist was released back in 1973 and directed by William Friedkin – who won’t be involved with the new film, according to the outlet. It is widely considered to be one of the greatest films ever made and is based on the book of the same name by William Peter Blatty.

Blumhouse Productions and Morgan Creek will produce the sequel with Green in the director’s seat, though neither production house made any comment to the source outlet at the time of writing.

The Exorcist spawned two initial sequels, as well as recent follow-ups and even a TV series. It sounds like the new movie is in the early stages so we have no further info in regards to story or casting, but we’ll keep you posted.
