Matt Damon joins the MCU for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’?

The news is sno far unconfirmed by Marvel Studios.

So here is some unexpected news. A variety of outlets are reporting that none other than Matt Damon is set to join the MCU – the Marvel Cinematic Universe – in the third Thor sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder, which is about to kick off filming down in Australia. The actor, who was most recently seen in Ford V Ferrari (aka Le Mans ’66) is said to have arrived in Sydney to start the mandatory quarantine with his family before shooting kicks off in a few weeks’ time.

If the rumours are true, and we have had no confirmation from any official sources, he will join the already cast Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt and Christian Bale, who will all feature in director Taika Waititi’s latest Marvel offering, following the superb Thor: Ragnarok in which Damon actually appeared as a jobbing actor on Asgard. No news on who he may play in the sequel, but the news outlets reporting his casting, say that he is due to remain in the country for a few months, suggesting a much bigger role.

However, we repeat, the news is as yet unconfirmed, so don’t taje any rumours as gospel until they are.

Thor: Love and Thunder will release in May 2022.
