The Big 70 For Netflix

They promise to release a new film every week this year.

2020 had certainly been a difficult year for the movie industry as a whole with many new titles in production being put on hold and newer releases struggling with the lockdown efforts in place preventing viewers from checking out the movie. One of the big names that should’ve perhaps performed much better than it did was the blockbuster TENET, but that isn’t to say studios didn’t find an opportunity in the struggles too. With both Disney and Warner Bros stating that they’ll be focus on releasing newer titles directly to video on demand and streaming platforms, 2021 could be a very strong year yet.

There are also some breakout names that have been appearing more and more that have helped build a lot of hype for new releases this year too – names like Oscar Isaac have been rising in recent years following appearances in Star Wars and other big names, with topical new releases like The Card Counter being scheduled for 2021 too following a year in which online casinos had been extremely successful despite efforts like Gamstop aimed at reducing options as a good resource of sites can be found here – but the real winner for this year is certainly looking to be Netflix, as they have stepped up their production game to release the most titles of any studio in history in a short period of time.

The online streaming giant are set to release a staggering 70 movies throughout the year – with big names to star such as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds scheduled to appear in some of these movies, they definitely have the star power to succeed. A good track record of unique produced content certainly helps too, both in movie and TV Netflix have been able to succeed and show they’re definitely doing this right although with a few hiccups on the way – even if some do fall short, there’s a huge catalogue throughout the year that there will surely be some hidden gems and instant classics amongst them. You can find the full list of all 70 movies to be released – with a mix of English and foreign titles.

It does set a new precedent for streamed content too – whilst platforms like HBO Max are going  to benefit from the huge releases during their partnership with Warner Bros through titles like Dune, and Disney+ has been riding high with the huge success of The Mandalorian, their options pale in comparison with Disney only set to release 22 movies throughout the year – whilst the full 70 won’t be a sustainable option moving forward, it may serve to further push the streaming wars and lead to much more content being produced – and with expectations that spending on streaming services through the year will only increase too, they certainly won’t be hurting in the budget department as viewer numbers have seen steady increases and subscription counts remain higher than ever before – in order to capture as many people as possible, the one with the most, and the best content, will stay on top.
