Jason Reitman says that his father, Ivan, loves the new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie and ‘cried after watching it’

Good sign for the upcoming sequel.

The brand new Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, will [hopefully] land in cinemas later this year, and it looks like the movie could already be finished and ready to hit the multiplexes. The film’s director, Jason Reitman, spoke with Empire magazine and revealed that his father, Ivan, who famously helmed the first two Ghostbusters movies, saw it at the end of the year and reportedly broke down in tears as the credits rolled.

Reitman told the outlet: “My father hasn’t been leaving the house much because of Covid. But he took a test, put on a mask and drove down to the Sony lot to watch the movie with the studio. And after, he cried, and he said, ‘I’m so proud to be your father.’ And it was one of the great moments of my life.”

From director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman, comes the next chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, when a single mum and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. The film is written by Jason Reitman & Gil Kenan.
