The start of 2021 is officially here and whilst many hoping it would start off on a bit of a different note to last year, it seems unfortunately much might be the same as early warnings and effective lockdowns have been put in place leading to a rather familiar first few months. With a little time to fill, however, now may be a perfect time to go back and revisit your favourite movie moments – with a swell of options becoming available on the bigger streaming services like Netflix, there’s plenty to choose from too – how about checking out some of these casino favourites, which may be particularly relevant for many as there has been a huge surge of new players turning to online casinos to help cure boredom over the past few months! It has also led to further questions being asked about whether this will become available across more states, with Maine online casinos potentially next.
Croupier – Many of the big casino movies like to show off the lavish and lush lifestyle of being a high-roller or being a casino owner. Bright lights, plenty of flashy objects, and lots of cash. Croupier brings a very different view to the standard casino movie, shot through the eyes and perspective of a dealer at a card room in London, this movie starring Clive Owen takes a bit of a darker look at the world of casinos, and with a heist plan set in motion from a new partner, adds all the thrill of one too. The movie is available in some regions on Netflix, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already!
The Oceans Series – If you’re a fan of casino movies, you probably love the Oceans movies bringing the exciting casino heists. The three original movies starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and an ensemble of other supporting stars bring a little comic relief with some tension and a lot of fun – the movies can at times show their age being released back in the early 2000’s but that just adds a lot more charm too. All three are available in many regions on Netflix, with the newest offering of Ocean’s 8 which features a female cast also becoming more available on streaming platforms too.
21 – This American heist movie is based on a true story – starring Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne, this movie focuses on an MIT Student, Ben, who joins a group of other students and his teacher in counting cards and taking the skills to Vegas to earn some money. Bringing a lot of tension and drama as the group start to collide with the head of a Vegas casinos security, it shows both the ups and downs of being a regular casino player, particularly one that may not be playing by the rules!
These are just a few honourable mentions too with plenty of others to choose from – high octane action from titles such as Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig, Scorsese classics with other titles like Casino, and Hoffman and Cruise big titles like Rain Man are all out there too – so get something warm to drink and have a relaxing lockdown night with some fun casino movies.
