Check out this excellent artwork for the upcoming Arrow release The Stylist, a film that premiered at last year’s big FrightFest event. The film is a sleek and inventive psychological thriller starring Najarra Townsend (Contracted) as a brilliant but shy hairdresser with an extremely dark secret. We reviewed the film at the Halloween event back in October and loved it. The STylist poster can be found below along with more info on the movie and our thoughts from our original review.
The film actually started life as a short, which also premiered at the FrightFest event a couple of years previous.
Here’s the synopsis for the feature:
We all dream of being someone else… but for Claire (Najarra Townsend, Contracted), that dream goes from an obsession to a living nightmare. Hairstylist by day, serial killer and collector of scalps by night, Claire’s lonely existence is thrown into turmoil when her regular client, Olivia (Brea Grant, After Midnight; director of 12 Hour Shift), asks her to style her hair for her wedding day. Increasingly fixated on Olivia’s seemingly flawless life, Claire vows to lock up her scalp collection and change her ways for good – only to discover that repressing your deadly desires is easier said than done…
Our summary of the film in our original review said the following.
Inherently feminine, gorgeously shot and styled, and led from the front with well-formed performances, The Stylist offers potentially one of the most seductive portraits of a serial killer ever.
Kat also said: “Najarra Townsend gives a spellbinding performance, with Brea Grant once again proving that she’s one of the most consistent actors working in the genre. Killer performances, sticky scalpings, and costumes to die for, make this a wickedly crafted portrait of a serial killer.”
This looks really good and I personally can’t wait to check it out.
