Trailer arrives for ‘Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy’; Plays in-competition at this year’s Berlinale

The festival starts on 1st March.

Just yesterday, the full programme for the Competition at this year’s Berlinale was unveiled by organisers. This year’s festival is a little bit different with the main festival going virtual for industry and press from 1st-5th March, with an additional public event planned for the summer. Today, one of the first promos for a film playing in the Competition has been unveiled by the festival. The Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy trailer (Guzen to sozo) has been uploaded to the official Berlinale YouTube channel and can be seen below.

Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy (Guzen to sozo) by Ryusuke Hamaguchi will play in the main programme and stars Kotone Furukawa, Kiyohiko Shibukawa and Fusako Urabe.

The official synopsis is as follows: An unexpected love triangle, a failed seduction trap and an encounter that results from a misunderstanding are the three episodes, told in three movements to depict three female characters and trace the trajectories between their choices and regrets.

In the Competition, there are 15 films in total, two of which are first features, which will compete for the Golden Bear and the Silver Bears. Productions from 16 countries are represented.
