That Rian Johnson ‘Star Wars’ trilogy is still going to happen

Some good news to wake up to this morning.

With the landing of the stunning two series’ of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, which is television at its best let alone sci-fi or Star Wars at its best, one might have thought that plans may change for the direction of a new movie universe, but the good news is that the planned Rian Johnson trilogy of Star Wars movies is still very much on the cards at Lucasfilm.

Word comes from an interview that Johnson recently took part in with USA Today’s Sarah Wilson where the big news is that said trilogy is still very much happening. “No dates or timelines because he has other projects going on,” read the tweet posted yesterday by Wilson.

I love Rian Johnson’s movies since he exploded onto the scene with Brick. Looper was a great piece of time-travelling sci-fi, and Knives Out brought the Johnson vibe to the murder-mystery genre. A follow-up to that movie is also expected. I can’t wait to see what he does with further Star Wars adventure following his solid work on The Last Jedi.

We’ll bring you more news on his planned Star Wars films as it comes in.
