Trailer for Kevin Smith documentary ‘Clerk’ which will get a premiere at SXSW

Malcolm Ingram directs the feature.

Here’s a little look at the upcoming Clerk, a feature-length documentary premiering at this month’s SXSW festival over in Texas. The film is directed by Malcolm Ingram and is described as a celebration of the life of filmmaker Kevin Smith, who we are obviously big fans of here. Ingram has known Smith for over 25 years and the Chasing Amy, Dogma and Mallrats writer and director will partake in a ‘Clerk and Twerk’ event following the world premiere at SXSW on 17th March.

Clerk is an examination and celebration of the life of Kevin Smith – and an exploration on how one kid from Jersey completely transformed the cultural landscape. A journey which began 25 years ago at the Sundance Film festival where his DIY film ‘Clerks’, financed on credit cards took the film world by storm. Leading to a career as a filmmaker, podcaster, stand-up comedian, author, comic book writer, television producer – a veritable pop culture icon with a very large and loyal fanbase.

“He has a career that influenced many,” Ingram says in the press notes. “He built an enviable loyal fan base through his early use of the internet as a megaphone, he flexed his mercantile instincts by opening a comic book store and became a raconteur of the first order by mastering live gigs and podcasting. Taking on such complex topics as sex, sexuality and religion, Kevin has never been one to walk away from controversy and I dig that.”
