Check out this trailer for a new drama starring Alec Secareanu (God’s Own Country) titled The Bike Thief. I actually had the pleasure of watching this one late last year and called it an exceptional debut from filmmaker Matt Chambers. It will arrive on digital from 3rd May and also stars Anamaria Marinca (4 Months, 3 Weeks And 2 Days).
A Romanian pizza delivery driver’s life is turned upside down when his only source of income – his moped – is stolen. Desperate, and with few friends to turn to, he walks the streets of London desperately searching for his lost bike. But time is running out, and if his boss finds out about the theft, he will lose everything. With his family home at stake, he has little choice but to turn to desperate measures.
I added in my review, which you can read here, that the film ‘is stylish, though realistic, beautiful, gritty, and at various points, subtly anxiety-inducing. A well managed piece about normal people, their choices and the events that can easily be put before them, pushing them into making decisions they may regret.’ I really liked it.
