Trailer for the superb ‘Funny Face’ starring Cosmo Jarvis and directed by Tim Sutton

The film premiered at the Berlinale in 2020.

Here’s the trailer for a film I caught at last year’s Berlinale, Tim Sutton’s Funny Face. I’ve just received word that the movie is starting to roll out – at least stateside – from the beginning of April with other territories bound to follow (as it is great).

Origin Story. A young Muslim woman runs away from her aunt and uncle’s house desperate for a new life, but quickly finds that she must survive on the street. A disturbed young man from Coney Island dons the menacing “Funny Face” mask, transforming himself into a makeshift superhero with a rage disorder as he seeks revenge on the Real Estate Developer of a soulless high rise that has displaced his grandparents. Misfit avengers in a changing city, the two embark on a neighborhood odyssey that brings danger, love, and tragedy. And pickles.

I love this film. Dela Meskienyar, Victor Garber, Dan Hedaya, Rhea Perlman, and Jeremy Bobb are also amongst the impressive cast. Funny Face is released in the U.S. from 2nd April. We’ll keep you updated on further territories as details become available.

Here’s the trailer.
