‘Black Widow’ and ‘Cruella’ to get Disney+ premium release

Cruella will debut at the end of May with Black Widow landing in July.

Two of Disney’s biggest releases are set to get Disney+ simultaneous releases with cinemas later this summer. The next big Marvel Studios film Black Widow and the live-action Cruella starring Emma Stone will bow in cinemas and on the premium section of the streamer where users will have to pay an addition fee of $30 on top of the price of their normal subscription.

“Today’s announcement reflects our focus on providing consumer choice and serving the evolving preferences of audiences,” said Kareem Daniel, chairman of Disney’s media and entertainment distribution in a statement.

Cruella (pictured) will hit cinemas and Disney+ Premium on 28th May while the highly anticipated Black Widow will land on 6th July. Additionally, Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has shifted its release to September, while the Kenneth Branagh-directed Death on the Nile will now hit screens in February 2022.

Its a major move from a big name in entertainment. Cinemas are starting to reopen with screens beginning to open their doors in key U.S. markets, and Cineworld confirmed on Tuesday that they will be back in business in the UK from mid-May when government restrictions ease. However, other territories all over the world still have restrictions in place with venues still closed.
