You might be wondering the best Netflix movies you can watch with your grandparents. Well, the good news is that Netflix has come to save the day once again as they have many to choose from no matter what your location.
As you know, there are hundreds of films to choose from on Netflix, with many genres; from senior citizens on one last hurrah amongst the high roller online casinos of Sin City in Last Vegas to drama in the fields of Suffolk in the latest original The Dig. We’d recommend those two, but here are some other movies you can quite happily sit down with your grandparents to watch.
As Good as It Gets
This romantic comedy from celebrated filmmaker James L. Brooks is sure to tickle the fancy of many. Melvin (Jack Nicholson), a romance novelist with OCD, falls for Carol (Helen Hunt), a waitress and single mother with a chronically ill son. As Good As It Gets is one of those movies that you never forget; and features fantastic performances from both Nicholson and Hunt – who both won Oscars for their roles, as well as a career-best Greg Kinnear as Simon.
The King’s Speech
The King’s Speech, directed by Tom Hooper, is a critically acclaimed film released in 2011, which was also an Oscar-winner. Colin Firth is the future King George V who is struggling with a stammer. He enlists the help of speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) who helps him to overcome it.
A relatively laid back, easy watch, The King’s Speech should rank on most lists as it is one of the very best movies from the past decade.
Last Vegas
We mentioned this before, and would definitely recommend this one as it is a brilliantly-told comedy revolving around four elderly friends who reunite to take a rest from playing real money pokies, or perhaps other games that can be played online, and head to the bright lights of Las Vegas to celebrate one of them getting married. The cast is to die for – Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Kevin Kline, and Michael Douglas as a bunch of seniors who are looking for one last big trip to Sin City.
Driving Miss Daisy
Driving Miss Daisy comes with a very charming and simple premise, whilst never skimping on emotions. The story tells the story of the relationship between an elderly woman and her chauffeur in America’s deep south.
Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman are excellent in this heavily applauded drama which first hits screens back in 1989. Check it out if you’ve missed it. YOur folks will love it.
