HBO has released the trailer for acclaimed filmmaker Alex Gibney’s new documentary, The Crime Of The Century. The project is a two-part indictment of Big Pharma, which will be debuting on the platform over two evenings starting on Monday 10th May with the second part airing the following day.
The documentary was produced in association with The Washington Post, and is a searing indictment of Big Pharma and the political operatives and government regulations that enabled over-production, reckless distribution and abuse of synthetic opiates.
Using the little-seen Purdue prosecution memo and bringing it to life in a way that’s never been done before, Gibney presents the crime behind the opioid crisis. His investigation reveals the inner workings of the multi-billion-dollar industry behind the opioid epidemic, and clearly lays out how the pharmaceutical companies, FDA, and influenced doctors together committed the ultimate crime that created one of the greatest health crises of our generation.
The documentary will debut on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. We are waiting to hear where the film will be available in the UK – we’re guessing Sky Documentaries as they pick up a lot of HBO – but we’ll keep you posted.
