Aretha Franklin biopic ‘Respect’ gets a new release date

Coming in September.

We’re hearing that the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect has got a new release date. According to an alert we received yesterday, the film will now bow in cinemas on 10th September (UK). Jennifer Hudson leads the cast of the film which is sure to catch attention come next awards season.

Here’s a short synopsis.

Directed by Liesl Tommy and starring Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, and Mary J. Blige, RESPECT follows the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.
