Big Box Office Releases Yet to Come in 2021

The end of last year brought some great news for box office fans as it was announced the Hollywood giant Warner Bros would be bringing some of their biggest titles directly to the streaming platform of HBO Max alongside the standard cinema releasing signalling the first big change in the industry to provide new releases online following the likes of the biggest online gaming options such as iLottery amongst many others, and some big titles have already seen their release with the likes of Godzilla versus Kong and most recently Mortal Kombat 2021. But which are the big movies yet to see their big release this year?

No Time to Die – The latest in the James Bond franchise and what could be Daniel Craig’s last outing as the British spy, whilst the film has been pushed back a few times already the new expected date for the start of October is still looking to be set. Whilst not one of the Warner Bros titles so not scheduled for an online release, it may come at a time where there’s a big focus on getting back to the cinema, so plenty of exciting opportunities for fans to see it on the big screen once again and starring Rami Malek of Mr Robot fame it could certainly be one of the huge standout titles of the holiday period too.

Dune – Slated as being perhaps the biggest movie release of the year coming at a similar time with an expected release date of October 1st, it’s another title that has found a couple of delays. With a huge star-studded roster including Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem, it’s certainly looking to be a huge holiday hit. Being one of the many Warner Bros titles too, it will be one of the biggest hits to see a direct online release and could be a catalyst for encouraging other big studios to make the change.

Jungle Cruise – A role that puts Dwayne Johnson back in the Jungle off of the back of his exciting role in Jumanji, and also starring Emily Blunt, this adventure fantasy title is based on a Disneyland ride with a riverboat travelling down the Amazon through a supernatural jungle – given the huge success of a previous ride turned movie in Pirates of the Caribbean, could this turn out to be another big blockbuster? The cast certainly has the makings for it to do so and working off of a successful formula certainly does no harm either. As a Disney movie, it’ll likely find a streaming platform release too, likely on the Premiere Access that Disney has been known for recently.

There are plenty of other huge titles still to come too, it’s an exciting year for movies, and potentially an exciting future too if some of the other huge Hollywood studios decide to commit to a more online focussed release pattern too.
