New look at festival fave ‘The Surrogate’ which will land in cinemas in July

The film has played SXSW and the São Paulo International Film Festival, amongst others.

Get your eyes around this new look at an upcoming July-released film titled The Surrogate, a feature that has had some great buzz on the festival circuit starting back last year. The movie is directed by Jeremy Hersh and will come to screens on 9th July.

The film follows Jess Harris (Jasmine Batchelor), a 29-year-old web designer, who is excited to be the surrogate and egg-donor for her best friend Josh (Chris Perfetti,) and his husband Aaron (Sullivan Jones). Twelve weeks into the pregnancy, a prenatal test comes back with unexpected results that pose a moral dilemma. As they all consider the best course of action, the relationship between the three friends is put to the test.

The film has played SXSW 2020, the São Paulo International Film Festival, and Gotham Film Festival. Earlier this year Jasmine Batchelor was nominated for a Breakthrough Actor award at the IFP Gotham Awards.

Studio Soho will release the film in the UK.
