According to an official press release, Vanessa Kirby has joined the cast of The Son from writer-director Florian Zeller. Kirby joins Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern in the film which focusses on Peter (Hugh Jackman) when his busy life with new partner Beth (Vanessa Kirby) and their baby is thrown into disarray when his ex-wife Kate (Laura Dern) turns up with their teenage son, Nicholas.
Florian Zeller said: “Vanessa Kirby is for me a very great actress: intense, inventive and powerful. I am especially happy to take her on this cinematic adventure.”
Zeller and Christopher Hampton (The Father, Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement), wrote the screenplay, adapting from Zeller’s acclaimed stage play. Filming is reportedly set to kick off very soon, according to trade paper Variety.
