The Sopranos are back in a new trailer for ‘The Many Saints Of Newark’

Legends aren’t born. They’re made.

Oh, this looks good. If you’ve been on the lookout for a new trailer for a crime movie featuring echoes of Goodfellas – complete with Ray Liotta’s unmistakable tones in the background – then look no further than this new look at The Many Saints Of Newark – coming to screens later this year.

Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Michael Gandolfini, Billy Magnussen, Michela De Rossi, John Magaro, Ray Liotta and Vera Farmiga lead the cast of the feature – a prequel to the hit HBO series The Sopranos.

The film is set in the explosive era of the Newark riots, when rival gangsters began to rise up, challenging the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the city. The official synopsis is as follows…

Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark’s history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise up and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family’s hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities—and whose influence over his nephew will help make the impressionable teenager into the all-powerful mob boss we’ll later come to know: Tony Soprano.

This one hits stateside on 24th September where it will also land on HBO Max or a limited period. Expect it to hit UK screens from 22nd October.

Here’s the trailer.
