‘Censor’ filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond sets second feature, ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’

Censor is getting a wide release in August.

Here’s some exciting news for you on a Thursday afternoon. Censor filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond has lined up her second feature film following the retro horror movie that wowed Sundance and Berlin earlier this year. Bailey Bond will next tackle Things We Lost In The Fire which is based Argentine journalist and novelist Mariana Enriquez’s book of short stories the same name.

Censor

Bailey-Bond will collaborate with her Censor co-scribe  Anthony Fletcher on the new movie, which Screen describes as the following:

The story combines elements of horror and feminism in what is described as a subversive commentary on the modern day beauty myth in which women reclaim control of their image in drastic fashion.

Censor, Bailey-Bond’s “bloody love letter to the VHS ‘video nasty’ horror classics of the past” is yet to get a release in the UK, but will get a bow later in the summer on 20th August. You can read my full, four-star non-spoilers review of the movie here.
