Here’s a brief look at an upcoming new war movie titled The East, which stars Martijn Lakemeyer. This one releases stateside starting 13th August looking at an official press release we’ve just received. We’re hoping it pushes to international audiences shortly afterward.
During the post-WW2 Indonesian War of Independence, a young Dutch soldier joins an elite unit led by a mysterious captain known only as “The Turk.” When the fighting intensifies, the young soldier finds himself questioning – and ultimately challenging – his commander’s brutal strategy to stop the resistance.
The East is directed by Jim Taihuttu from a screenplay he wrote with Mustafa Duygulu. Marwan Kenzari, and Jonas Smulders are also amongst the cast.
